<p>Creating user page with biography of new user.</p> <p><b>New page</b></p><div>My name is Ziad Ganim and I am currently a postdoctoral fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Society working in the group of Matthias Rief at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. I am using single molecule force experiments to study protein folding and binding.<br /> <br /> My thesis work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with Andrei Tokmakoff resulted in the development of new techniques in ultrafast two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy to reveal transient structural changes by direct comparisons to molecular dynamics simulations.<br /> <br /> I am fascinated by how evolution has fine-tuned proteins and protein complexes to perform every process associated with life -- with high specificity in noisy environments.<br /> <br /> My research goals are broadly aimed at a molecular-level understanding and manipulation of these phenomena driven by technological developments in spectroscopic and computational tools.<br /> <br /> I was born in Long Island, New York, and grew up in the Los Angeles area.<br /> <br /> Personal website: [http://ziad.nu]</div>
