Thiol peroxidase (TPX) is part of an oxidative stress defense system that uses thioredoxin and thioredoxin reductase to reduce alkyl hydroperoxides. TPX is an antioxidant which reduces peroxides and inhibits hydrogen peroxide response. TPX is also implicated in activation of transcription factors and signaling.
3D structures of thiol peroxidase
1q98 – TPX – Haemophilus influenzae
1qxh, 3hvs, 3i43 – EcTPX – Escherichia coli
3hvv, 3hvx - EcTPX (mutant)
1xvq – TPX – Mycobacterium tuberculosis
2a4v – TPX C terminal (mutant) – yeast
2xpd, 2xpe, 3zrd, 3zre – YpTPX – Yersinia pseudotuberculosis
2yjh - YpTPX (mutant)
