Ribosomal protein L16 (RPL16) is one of the 34 proteins which belong to the large 50S subunit of the prokaryotic ribosome or to the ca. 49 proteins in the large 60S subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. It binds to 23S RRNA and is located at the A site of the peptidyltransferase center[1].

Relevance

Mutations in RPL16 confer reduced susceptibility to the antibiotic evernimicin[2].
