Ribosomal protein S8 (RPS8) is one of the 22 proteins which belong to the of the bacterial ribosome. It binds to 16S RRNA and interacts with spc operon mRNA. In archaea the protein is named S8E (RPS8E). The images at the left and at the right correspond to one representative RPS8, i.e. the crystal structure of Ribosomal protein S8 from Thermus thermophilus (2zm6, chain H).
