This page is meant to be a proof-of-concept effort to make a Proteopedia page with features comparable to the animated, FLASH-based HIV virus done by David Goodsell and hosted at the RCSB.

This page was made with all original components all made Jmol and image processing software.

This page is not meant to take anything away from the wonderful animated HIV virion done by David Goodsell. The idea was simply to make something comparable using Jmol and wiki-text so that in addition to showing the components, one could rotate the protein components and choose to display them in other ways. At the same time, it would show what is possible within Proteopedia using Jmol. Interactive Flash is allowed within Proteopedia (see Proteopedia:Cookbook);however, having the molecules in Jmol allows the user much more interaction and control over their display.

To get started:
  • Click the edit this page tab at the top. Save the page after each step, then edit it again.
  • Click the 3D button (when editing, above the wikitext box) to insert Jmol.
  • show the Scene authoring tools, create a molecular scene, and save it. Copy the green link into the page.
  • Add a description of your scene. Use the buttons above the wikitext box for bold, italics, links, headlines, etc.
