Transcriptional regulator. Recognizes and binds to the DNA sequence 5'-CGCCCCCGC-3'(EGR-site). Activates the transcription of target genes whose products are required for mitogenesis and differentiation. regulate eukaryotic gene expression

The zinc-fingers usually interact with the outside of B-DNA. When interacting with DNA, the zinc fingers bind in the major groove of B-DNA and wrap part way around the double helix.
