Pax6

Pax6 transcription factor 6pax bound to DNA. The amino-terminal is located near the small, yellow β motif. Prominent are two globular subdomains that make contact with the major groove and are linked with a chain that makes contact with the minor groove.
Pax6 is a transcription factor involved in the embryonic development of the central nervous system (CNS), eyes, nose, and pancreas in mammals. Its corresponding gene, PAX6, was initially identified as being a part of a family of genes named for their shared feature, the Paired box, itself named after the paired gene in Drosophila melanogaster.
