The MyBo HyPo Project


Welcome to the Mycobacterium bovis' Hypothetical Protein (MyBo HyPo) Project.

The MyBo HyPo Project aims towards a computational characterization of all hypothetical proteins of M. bovis. A Hypothetical Protein (HP) is one that is known to exist only on the basis of a corresponding gene but without any function assigned to it. Characterization of HPs of a pathogen has a potential for unraveling hitherto unknown drug and vaccine targets. M. bovis is an important veterinary pathogen of zoonotic significance, responsible for causing nearly 3% of all human cases of tuberculosis in the developing world.

As for now, computationally-derived models of 14 M. bovis HP UniRefs, obtained at a 90% sequence identity cut-off from all HPs of M. bovis in the UniProt Database, are being included. These models shall be updated as and when models of better quality become available.
