Function
Ribosomal protein L11 (RPL11) is one of the 34 proteins which belong to the large 50S subunit of the prokaryotic ribosome or to the ca. 49 proteins in the large 60S subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. It is known to bind to the 23S RRNA from the large subunit[1]. In Archaea the protein is named L11P.
Relevance
Mutations in RPL11 are associated with cleft palate and abnormal thumbs in Diamond-Blackfan anemia patients[2].
