Two different classes of thiolases are found . Degrative thiolase like 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase (KCT) is involved in fatty acid β oxidation. Biosynthetic thiolases like acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase (ACT) are involved in the thiolysis of acetoacetyl-CoA.
