Overview
The plasma membrane Na+/Ca2+ exchanger (NCX) is almost certainly the major Ca2+ extrusion mechanism in cardiac myocytes. Binding of Na+ and Ca2+ ions to its large cytosolic loop regulates ion transport of the exchanger.
