3D Structure of Gelsolin

Actin Binding Protein

Severin is a calcium-activated protein which binds actin. It nucleates actin assembly, severes F-actin and caps actin filaments. Severin is a member of the calcium-regulated gelsolin superfamily of actin severing and capping proteins. Severin comprises 6 homologous domains (A1-A6), which share 60% identity with the 6 domains from Gelsolin (G1-G6). It is named Adseverin and Scinderin as well.

3fg6 – Adseverin C-terminal – human
1svy – Severin domain 2 – Dictyostelium discoideum
1svq - Severin domain 2 - Dictyostelium discoideum, NMR
