Bungarotoxins. α-Bungarotoxin (α-BGT), β-Bungarotoxin (β-BGT), γ-Bungarotoxin (γ-BGT) and κ-Bungarotoxin (κ-BGT) are snake toxins from banded krait. α-BGT binds irreversibly to the acetylcholine receptor (AChR) causing paralysis and death. β-BGT binds to the presynaptic terminal causing release of acetylcholine. The images at the left and at the right correspond to one representative Bungarotoxin , i.e. the crystal structure of α-Bungarotoxin (2abx).
