Cytochrome P450 (CYP) catalyzes the oxidation of organic substances like lipids. The CYP contains a heme cofactor. The protein is numbered by its gene. CYP-cam catalyzes the hydroxylation of camphor. P450nor is a Nitric Oxide Reductase CYP. The images at the left and at the right correspond to one representative CYP, i.e. the crystal structure of human CYP2 (2f9q).
