Cfi is the immunity protein that is produced by E. coli alongside Colicin 5 to protect itself from the pore-forming cytotoxic activity of the Colicin. Once released from the cell and attached to an outer membrane receptor of a target cell, the immunity protein is then released.

Cfi is the immunity protein that is produced by E. coli alongside Colicin 5 to protect itself from the pore-forming cytotoxic activity of the Colicin, by inserting itself into the cell membrane and preventing the Colicin from doing the same. This prevents membrane depolarisation by the colicin, so the cell is not killed.
