FATZ, Filamin-, actinin, and telethonin binding protein of the Z-disc. This is a protein family composed of three isoforms, also known by the name of Myozenins or Calsarcins. FATZs are exclusively expressed in striated muscle cells. FATZ-2 is the only member of the calsarcin family expressed in the adult heart and slow-twitch skeletal muscle, whereas FATZ-1 and FATZ-3 are expressed in fast-twitch muscle. [1]
