α-galactosidase (Agal) hydrolyzes the terminal -galactosyl moiety from glycoproteins and glycolipids. -galactosidase hydrolyzes -galactosides into monosaccharides. IPTG induces Bgal activity. PETG is an inhibitor. Galcatose, lactose, ONPG are substrates. Galactopyranosyl is reaction intermediate.
