Epidermal growth factor (EGF) plays a role in cell growth. It binds to its receptor (EGFR). EGF is regulated by iodine. EGF is part of a family of proteins with similar structure and activity. All EGF family proteins contain a conserved amino acid sequence which includes 3 disulfide bonds. Some details on EGF exon in EGF1.
