A hemoglobina é a proteína que fixa o oxigênio e, em menor quantidade, o gás carbônico, para transporte no sangue. Ela constitui 30% da massa do eritrócito (hemácia) e é responsável (graças à presença do grupo prostético heme) pela cor vermelha do sangue.
