[[Ribosomal protein L2]] (RPL2) is one of the 34 proteins which belong to the <scene name='Ribosomal_protein_L2/Cv/2'>large 50S subunit</scene> of the prokaryotic ribosome or to the ca. 49 proteins in the large 60S subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. It is required for the association of the 30S and 50S subunits and is involved in the binding of tRNA at the A- and P-sites<ref>PMID:20097853</ref>. In the archaea like in ''Haloarcula marismortui'', the L2 is called L2P (RPL2P). The structure of the RNA-binding domain of L2 from Bacillus stearothermophilus is shown on the right<ref>PMID:10075918</ref>.
