Its nuclear localization implies for its role in transcription regulation. There are many transcription factors that were decribed to interact with mHTT. However, less known are the interactions with wild-type HTT. Well known gene targetted by the HTT-mediated transcription regulation is the brain derived nerve growth factor (BDNF) <ref>DOI 10.1038/ng1219</ref>.
