Acts as a sensor of cholesterol to signal cholesterol sufficiency to mTORC1: in presence of cholesterol, binds cholesterol, leading to disrupt interaction between the GATOR1 and KICSTOR complexes and promote mTORC1 signaling (PubMed:36007018).
