GFP-green fluorescent protein

GFP הינו חלבון אשר פולט אור ירקרק כאשר מאירים עליו באור כחול או אולטרה סגול. GFP קיים באופן טבעי במדוזה Aequorea Victoria לה הוא משמש כאמצעי הרתעה לטורפים. לחלבון זה שמושים רבים במחקר כגון סימון תאים ורקמות , מעקב אחרי תהליכים תוך תאיים ועוד. מגלי ה- GFP זכו בפרס נובל לכימיה בשנת 2008 בשל שימושיו הרבים ותרומתו העצומה למחקר .
