Introduction
CARDIAC ANKYRIN REPEAT PROTEIN; CARPbelongs to the conserved muscle ankyrin repeat protein (MARP) family, Also known as Ankrd1.MARP family consist of two more homologous members Ankyrin repeat domain containing protein 2 (Ankrd2) and Diabetes related ankyrin repeat protein DARP.
Structure
full-length cDNA encoding ANKRD1 contains a nuclear localization signal, 4 tandem ankyrin-like repeats, multiple phosphorylation sites, and a PEST-rich region, which is typically found in rapidly degraded proteins.[1]
