The binding of Eph and ephrin receptors is achieved via cell-cell interaction. Eph/Eph receptor signaling regulates embryonic development, guidance of axon growth, long-term potentiation, angiogenesis and stem-cell differentiation [1]. Ephrin-A5 is required for the proper guidance and mapping of retinal axons in the mammalian midbrain[3]. Ephrin-B1 has a role in palatal shelf outgrowth[4].
