Histidinol Dehydrogenase
Histidinol dehydrogenase (HDH)is coded by the structural gene hisD. Histidinol dehydrogenase catalyses the last step in the histidine biosynthetic pathway. This pathway was found in bacteria, archaebacteria, fungi, and plants. The pathway involves the conversion of 5-phospho-ribosyl 1-pyrophosphate to L-histidine in 10 enzymatic reactions. [1]
