MurD ligase or UDP-N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine:D-glutamate ligase catalyzes the conversion of UDP-N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine (UMA), D-glutamate and ATP to UDP-N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine-D-glutamate and ADP. MurD is part of the bacterial peptidoglycan synthesis pathway.
