Function
Choline kinase (CK) catalyzes the conversion of choline and ATP to phosphocholine and ADP. CK is part of phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis.
Disease
Overexpression of CK α1 was found in various types of cancer cells. This can aid in promoting cancer cells survival and growth. CK α1 is used as cancer biomarker and anticancer drug target.
