Function
Squalene synthase (SQS) catalyzes the conversion of 2 molecules of farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP) to the isoprenoid squalene. SQS is part of the isoprenoid biosynthesis pathway. SQS catalysis is the first step in the sterols synthesis including cholesterol.
