Crystal structure of the kleisin-N SMC interface in prokaryotic condensin

Template:ABSTRACT PUBMED 23353789

Function

[SMC_BACSU] Required for chromosome condensation and partitioning.[1][2] [SCPA_BACSU] Participates in chromosomal partition during cell division. May act via the formation of a condensin-like complex containing Smc and ScpB that pull DNA away from mid-cell into both cell halves.[HAMAP-Rule:MF_01805]

About this Structure

3zgx is a 4 chain structure with sequence from Bacillus subtilis. Full crystallographic information is available from OCA.
