DNA is essential to pass down genetic information from one generation to the next. It contains all the information that is needed for an organism to develop.
The structure of DNA consists of
Function
The function of DNA is for long-term storage of information in cells.
It is also known as the blueprint where mRNA is made from transcription which in turn makes proteins from the mRNA.
Disease
Mutations in DNA can cause a variety of diseases. Some may be more deleterious or harmful than others.
Some diseases that arise from mutated DNA include but are not limited to cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, Tay-Sachs disease, and phenylketonuria.
