Function
Cell Division Protein FtsZ (Ftsz) is the prokaryotic homolog of tubulin. Ftsz assembles into a ring at the site of the septum in bacterial cell division. Ftsz stands for Filamenting Temperature-Sensitive mutant Z. Ftsz can bind GTP and hydrolyze it to GDP[1]. Ftsq us another septal protein. It is biopic membrane protein which is recruited in cell division site[2]. ZapA, ZapB, ZapC, ZapD (Z-Associated Protein) are regulators which modulate the dynamics of the FtsZ ring at midcell division site[3].
