The Fischer projection is a two-dimensional representation of a linear monosaccharide showing the stereochemistry. The figure below shows - from left to right - (a) glucose in a relaxed conformation, (b) glucose in a conformation where the carbon chain is in an all-syn conformation, (c) the wedge-and-dashes representation with the carbon chain on the vertical axis and (d) the Fischer projection.
