Function
Plastocyanin (PCY) is the long range electron carrier from cytochrome f of photosystem II to photosystem I in photosynthetic systems[1]. PCY contains a copper atom in its active site. The Cu ion can be in oxidised form (Cu+2) or reduced form (Cu+1).
Structural highlights
The PCY molecule has an containing an and a hydrophobic patch around the [2]. His and Leu residues are involved in PCY interaction with cytochrome f needed for for the electron transport.
