Hyaluronidase (HU) hydrolyzes complex carbohydrates such as hyaluronan which is part of the extracellular matrix. The hydrolysis increases tissue permeability. HU is used in medicine to speed drug delivery. Hyaluronic acid (HUA) is a popular dermal filler material.
