4-hydroxy-2-methylbut-2-enyl diphosphate reductase (IspH or HMBPP reductase) is an iron-sulfur containing protein. IspH converts 1-hydroxy-2-methylbut-2-enyl 4-diphosphate into isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP). IspH is involved in penicillin tolerance and participates in isoprenoid biosynthesis.
