This finding provided the basis for a general hypothesis of a, reverse binding mode for beta-phenethylamine-based DPP-IV inhibitors., Novel inhibitor design concepts that obviate substrate-like, structure-activity relationships (SAR) were thereby enabled, and novel, potent inhibitors were discovered.
