SNAP25, Syntaxin 1a and VAMP (Vesicle-associated membrane protein) form the stable soluble SNARE complex and their interaction is involved in the release of synaptic vesicles. Disease Relevance Decreased expression of SNAP25 is associated with Alzheimer's disease, Down syndrome and ADHD disorder[2]. Structural highlights SNAP25 has two SNARE motifs - one at its N-terminal and the other at its C-terminal. These motives make complexes with Syntaxin and [3].
