Activity is a term to describe the function of a biomolecule. Specifically, the enzymatic or catalytic activity of a protein refers to the reaction it catalyzes. It is also common to speak of binding activity of proteins and nucleic acids. Often, there is an assay to quantify the enzymatic or binding activity of a biological macromolecule.
