mRNA of the small C-terminal domain phosphatase 1 (SCP1/CTDSP1) protein, a component of the RE1-silencing transcription repressor (REST/NRSF) (6) (Fig. 1). REST represses the transcription of a large number of neuron-specific genes in nonneural cells (13).
