We apologize for Proteopedia being slow to respond. For the past two years, a new implementation of Proteopedia has been being built. Soon, it will replace this 18-year old system. All existing content will be moved to the new system at a date that will be announced here.

From Proteopedia
This sandbox is in use until June 1, 2009 for UMass Chemistry 490a. Others please do not edit this page. Thanks! '==This is a placeholder== The potassium channel is an integral membrane protein consisting of four identical subunits. Because it is located in the membrane, its hydrophobic groups are located on the outside of the structure, where they interact with the lipids inside the membrane. The interior of the channel, meanwhile, is hydrophobic with polar groups to interact with potassium cations.
Replace the PDB id (use lowercase!) after the STRUCTURE_ and after PDB= to load and display another structure.
