I obtained my B.S. at NCSU in Microbiology/Genetics, MS Joint appointment as a Welcome Trust sponsored student at Burroughs Wellcome and NCSU, Department of Microbiology. Research focused on Bacterial disease and pathogenic mechanisms. Cloned the elt-B subunit of the E. coli heat labile toxin, and utilized polymorphic restriction site analysis to determine epidemiological implications of this pathogen. Worked under the direction of Walter S. Dallas. Obtained Ph.D. at the NCSU Veterinary School and a short appoint in Roy Curtiss III, Washington University to study the virulence of an enteroinvasive strains of E. coli. I received my Ph.D. in 1988 and have had many appointment and industry positions since. I am an instructor at Wake Technical community College in the Arts and Sciences Division, Department of Biology. I teach Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. I still work as a consultant to computerize laboratory equipment and conduct research.
