I am a biochemist by training and obtained my PhD in the protein structure group at the University of York, studying the substrate specificity of Penicillin G acylase, using protein engineering techniques and X-ray crystallography. My current research focuses on pattern recognition receptors and the innate immune system. I am interested in using X-ray crystallography in combination with other biophysical techniques to understand at the molecular level the various strategies employed in immunity and immune evasion
