I have graduated from Biological department of Moscow State University and received a Ph.D in Biophysics. After working in Shemyakin Institute of Bioorganic chemistry in Moscow (NMR spectrosopy lab), I moved to the United States. Currently, I am Associate Research Scientist at the University of Michigan.
I am interested in modeling of protein structure, folding and stability and paricipated in several CASP experiments PubMed:10526369.
I like writing programs from the scratch and have developed quite a few of them including
- ConforNMR, a program for conformational analysis of peptides from NMR spectroscopy data PubMed:1376600, PubMed:1511236;
- Framework, thermodynamic model of coil to helix transition in membranes, micelles and molten globule PubMed:9235002;
- Assembl, calculation of helix-helix binding affinities in nonpolar media PubMed:15340167, and
- PPM, a program for spatial positioning of proteins in the lipid bilayers PubMed:17603894,PubMed:16731967.
My favorite subjects are
- development of energy functions from protein foldidng, ligand binding and solvent partitioning thermodynamics data PubMed:12142453,PubMed:15340167,PubMed:9235002 ; and
- membrane proteins
We have recently designed Orientations of Proteins in Membranes (OPM) database PubMed:16397007,PubMed:17603894,PubMed:16731967, see our database and article in Wikipedia.
