Function
SMU1_CAEEL Involved in pre-mRNA splicing as a component of the spliceosome (By similarity). Selectively regulates alternative splicing of unc-52 exon 17 (PubMed:11438655, PubMed:15254247). Thus, smu-1 mutants selectively suppress the effects of unc-52 nonsense mutations in exon 17 by promoting the accumulation of unc-52 isoforms that lack exon 17 and enhance the effects of unc-52 mutations that affect the exon 16 splice donor site (PubMed:11438655, PubMed:15254247). In contrast, smu-1 mutants do not suppress unc-52 nonsense mutations in exon 18 (PubMed:11438655).[UniProtKB:Q2TAY7][1] [2]
