ARGI_GLAA1 Cold-active L-arginase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of L-arginine to L-ornithine and urea, an essential reaction in the urea cycle for toxic ammonia removal and cell proliferation (PubMed:38300354). Is not able to use D-arginine or L-canavanine as substrates (PubMed:38300354).[1]
