Cbi

From Proteopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

Cbi is the Colicin Immunity Protein produced by E. coli alongside Colicin B to protect itself from the cytotoxic pore-forming domain of the Colicin, by inserting itself into the cell membrane and preventing the colicin from doing the same. This prevents membrane depolarisation by the colicin, so the cell is not killed.
