Its N-terminal is rich in Arg-Gly repeats and has two RGGF copies which are believed to be associated with nuclear localization and binding to RNA. In archaea the protein is called S2P (RPS2P). Relevance RPS2 is a tumor antigen recognized by antibodies. Thus its peptide can be suitable for use in immunotherapy for HLA-A26+ cancer patients[1]. RPS2 is over expressed in liver cancer[2].
