Function
EcxAB is a prototypical member of a hybrid AB5 toxin family containing metzincin-type metalloproteases as their active A subunit paired to a cholera-like B subunit.
Disease
Genes encoding two novel cholera-family B subunits were identified and character- ized within clinical isolates of Citrobacter freundii and Escheri- chia coli derived from diarrheal patients
