Introduction

Pertussis Toxins are a major virulence factor of Bordetella pertussis which causes whooping cough. The pertussis toxin is involved with colonization of the respiratory tract where it establishes an infection.

Structure

Pertussis Toxin is composed of a hexamer consisting of a catalytic subunit (S1) tightly associated with the pentameric cell-binding component (B-oligomer).
